Iniflex

Looks soft. Performs hard. The lightest airbag cover ever – and 100% recyclable

It all started with a simple question: how can we rethink one of the most constrained parts of a car – the airbag cover? At MATERI’ACT, we didn’t want to compromise. Not on weight. Not on recyclability. Not on safety.
That’s how INIFLEX was born — a breakthrough TPE material that combines impact resistance, ultra-light design and full recyclability.
Validated for series production, it’s the first of its kind – and a small revolution for mono-material airbag modules.

Applications

This solution was designed especially for airbag covers, but we’re already looking at how to use it in other applications.

Compatible with mono-material module architecture

Your material characteristic checklist

  • Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) base

  • Tailored mechanical properties for safety-critical airbag covers

  • Processable via injection moulding

  • Developed for system integration with NAFILean carriers

Built for integration

IniFlex is 100% compatible with our NAFILean structural carriers for a full mono-material airbag module. This approach supports recyclability and simplifies end-of-life processing. Making it an ideal material to contribute to Scope 3 reduction targets.

TPE airbag covers? Really?

TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) is a polymer that behaves a lot like rubber but processes like plastic. It’s flexible, mouldable and tough. Perfect for airbag covers, where precise opening and durability are essential. What makes IniFlex special? It’s the only (known) solution that combines lower weight, less CO2 and mono-material recyclability – along with safety-critical performance.
